So the year is almost over. No more students. Two more days of work. Six more days until I leave for Thailand. Clearly I haven't done a great job of keeping this blog updated. Maybe next year will be better.
Anyway, this is a post I wanted to write for a while but I'm really good at finding other things to do. Here's how I was described by other people this year.
- One of my students in 8th grade was talking to me about my teeth. Probably because they're straight. Anyway, she told me I have "Willy Wonka teeth". Um, thanks? She assured me this was a compliment.
I'm not so sure.
- After finding out that I had a discussion with a student about vampires, a coworker told me I was like Raj from The Big Bang Theory. If you're unfamiliar with the show, Raj often discusses various creatures with his friends.
Personally, I find nothing wrong with discussing supernatural beings with students. It's definitely more interesting than talking about things like the difference between the present perfect simple and the present perfect continuous.
- Okay the next one I still don't understand. One of my IV medio students told me I reminded him of Parks and Recreation. He didn't mention a specific character. But as long as he didn't mean Gerry, then I'm more than okay with the comparison.
This show is perfection.
- This last one has been brought up twice. One of my 7th graders told me I remind her of Monica Geller. Apparently we talk the same.
Last week, I decided to do a little organizing. Carolina, my coworker, was upstairs in the computer lab so I sent her a picture of what I had done (we're weird like that).
Apparently organizing CDs alphabetically and by category isn't normal.
So there you go. Willy Wonka, Raj, all of Parks and Rec, and Monica Geller. Not bad. Could have been worse.
